Watch Now: Looking Ahead to 2025: SEC Regulations, Enforcement and More

On Sept. 6, 2024, Barnes & Thornburg, Vanderbilt Law School’s Law and Business Program, National Association of Corporate Directors–Nashville (NACD) and Vanderbilt University’s Hans Stoll Financial Markets Research Center co-hosted the inaugural Public Company Shareholder Engagement Summit.

As part of the complimentary event, Trace Schmeltz, partner and co-chair of Barnes & Thornburg’s Financial and Regulatory Litigation practice group, moderated a discussion about the SEC’s whistleblower program and how it factors into shareholder engagement and activism. The discussion featured insights from Jennifer Marietta-Westberg, Vice President, Cornerstone Research; Amanda Rose, Professor of Law, Vanderbilt University Law School; Rebecca Reilly, Assistant Regional Director (New York), Division of Enforcement, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; and Doug Rand, Managing Director, Deloitte National Office.
